✈️ Entering via Airport:
Show your Temporary (RT) or Permanent (RP) Resident Card to the INM officer upon arrival.
Immigration will stamp your passport and write RT or RP, confirming your resident status.
🚗 Entering via Land Border:
Stop at an INM office to register your entry — even if not always required.
Passport may not be stamped, but it's still recommended to register, in case procedures change.
Exception: If you're entering for Canje (exchange process to get your resident card), you must stop and get an FMM at the border.
🛬 Canje via Airport:
Speak with a human immigration agent, not a kiosk.
Show your pre-approval visa stamp from the consulate.
Your entry will be registered digitally (digital FMM, no paper).
⚠️ Warning About Automated Kiosks:
Do NOT use automated immigration kiosks at airports like Cancun or Mexico City if you're a resident.
These kiosks are for tourists only.
Using them by mistake will cancel your residency.
✅ Bottom Line:
Always deal with a human immigration officer.
Ensure your entry is correctly registered as a resident (RT/RP) or Canje, not tourist.
